Mr. Joseph Lenwood Edmondson, 77, of LaGrange, passed away September 29, 2021. Mr. Edmondson was born December 1, 1943 in Newnan, Georgia, the son of the late Joseph Lenwood Edmondson Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Cates Edmondson. .
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a younger brother.
During his working years, he was a salesman for Firestone, worked for ProPack and was an insurance salesman. In his later years, he ministered to families while working for Hunter Allen Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange and McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point. Mr. Edmondson was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church at LaGrange for over forty years, where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher for twenty years. He was an avid Braves fan, loved football and loved to travel.
Survivors include his 56-year-old wife, “His Bride,” Grace Collins Edmondson; son, Michael Joseph Edmondson and his wife Shannon; brother, Robert “Bob” Edmondson; sister, Sally Howard; extended family, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 2, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home in the Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in honor of Mr. Edmondson to Second Baptist Church, 304 Fair Street, LaGrange, GA, 30241 or to a charity of your choice.
