While Chicago police were focusing on Jussie Smollett and thought that he had probably organized the attack for hate-motivated crime against himself, Donald Trump used Twitter's machines to criticize Smollett for having "Made racist and dangerous comments" about the risk of hate crimes in America, while Don Jr. retweeted every update suggesting that Smollett was the real perpetrator of the crime against him.
This morning, the Chicago prosecutors, who had previously been indicted on 16 charges against Smollett, decided to put an end to all these charges and to completely erase his criminal record. His lawyers published this statement:
"Today, all criminal proceedings against Jussie Smollett have been dropped and his case has been erased from the filing of this tragic complaint against him. Jussie was attacked by two people whom he could not identify on January 29th. This was a victim who was vilified and brought to appear as the author as a result of false and inappropriate remarks addressed to the public, causing an inappropriate course of judgment.
Jussie and many others were hurt by these unjust and unjustified actions. This whole situation is a reminder that one should never attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion. It's wrong. It's a reminder that a victim, in this case Jussie, deserves dignity and respect. The dismissal of the charges against the victim in this case was the only fair result.
Jussie is relieved to have this situation behind him and can not wait to focus on his family, friends and career again. "
It is assumed that the Trumps retract quickly and sincerely and offer sincere support to Smollett. After all, when a law enforcement officer refuses to sue, this amounts to an exemption. There will certainly be opponents who will see the hidden cover-up in the judge's case, allowing a person to evade justice without allowing the public to scrutinize the findings of the inquiry, but is just a conspiracy theory!
The summary we received from lawyers in this case telling us that it was not necessary to proceed is the only evidence we need. I am sure we can all agree on this point.
