Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Mister Doug Emhoff will be residing temporarily at Blair House as repairs are carried out in the official mansion of the Vice President of the Naval Observatory, according to a report.
The move, requested by the Navy, involves the replacement of chimney liners and other maintenance work at Number One Observatory Circle, a Harris aide told CBS News.
Repairs will be easier to make with the house unoccupied, the jack said.
It wasn’t immediately clear how long Harris and Emhoff will need to stay at Blair House, which sits across from the White House and is typically used to greet the President’s guests.
Once Harris and Emhoff officially move into the Queen Anne-style home on the Observatory grounds, this will mark the eighth time that a Vice President has resided there.
The house, which was built in 1893, sits on 12 acres of the 72-acre land of the still operational US Naval Observatory.
