Karen complains after cancer patient asks her to wear a mask

A viral video shows a woman vaping and speaking aggressively to an employee at a California Quest Diagnostics site, allegedly after a cancer patient asked her to wear a mask.

In the video, the woman blows her vape smoke in the clinician’s face and asks to speak to someone else. When he asks her to refrain from smoking and tells her that she is rude, she says her vaping is meant to “control (his) autoimmune disease”.

The video, posted on TikTok, has been viewed over 450,000 times. Quest Diagnostics indicates that masks are required within its locations.

The poster, @ hopey.pie, wrote in the comments section of the video that she is a metastatic cancer patient who was in Pasadena at Quest Diagnostics for a blood test when the woman without a mask arrived without appointment. The TikToker hinted that the woman also had anti-vax views because she allegedly said, “We’d all be sorry if the vaccine fails.”

“She yelled at me when I told her I had cancer and asked her to put on her mask,” @ hopey.pie wrote. “The poor guy was the only one working at the time. He ended up escorting me out the back because she was on the phone with the company complaining about me.

A commentator claimed the clinician in the video was her husband and shared words of support for the TikToker. “Great job keeping your honey cool,” she said.

“Believe me when I say I was really heated when he came home telling me what happened, but he behaved really well,” she added.

Viewers had similar words of support for the TikToker and the clinician.

Others were overtaken by the woman’s apparent anti-vax views and the fact that she was vaping in the doctor’s office. “She’s the star kid of ‘I don’t know what’s in the vaccine’ and then inhales literal chemicals,” one said.

“Don’t believe in science, but go to the hospital. Irony. the right. the privilege. it stinks, ”said another.
