Former Ohio Governor John Kasich shocked a CNN panel on Wednesday when President Trump’s network condemned wall-to-wall condemnation of President Trump for his pardon to former national security adviser General Michael Flynn.
Months after the Justice Department attempted to dismiss Flynn’s guilty plea that stemmed from the Russia investigation, Trump confirmed reports that he was considering a pardon for his former White House aide.
“It is a great honor for me to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted full forgiveness,” Trump tweeted Wednesday. “Congratulations to @GenFlynn and her wonderful family, I know you are now having a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!”

During a panel discussion, Jim Acosta began by noting how prominent Republicans “cheered this development” and asked Kasich, a persistent critic of Trump, what his “message to other Republicans” was.
Kasich’s response was not exactly what Acosta expected.
“Let’s continue all this,” Kasich replied. “The president lost [the election]. We now have a big debate about his pardons. Every president has the capacity to forgive … There will be more forgiveness to come. This is what presidents do. I mean, I remember when Bill Clinton had pardons and people went crazy. This is the power they have! And frankly, he’s finished! He will leave. The transition has started, let’s move on! “

Kasich, who is now a senior CNN analyst, went on to describe a condemnatory statement by the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., “Harsh” before stressing that “it is about time to begin to heal “.
“I mean, Thanksgiving tomorrow. Can we just, like, move on a little bit? Kasich asked. “We’re going to have a new administration coming. Acosta, who was replacing “The Situation Room” for regular anchor Wolf Blitzer, intervened with a last ditch effort to get Kasich to condemn pardon.
“But Governor Kasich, if you don’t mind, if I could just challenge you a bit,” Acosta jumped up. “You know, Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to federal prosecutors. Do you mind that he is now getting a full pardon? “
“Presidents have the ability to forgive, Jim, and he’s going to do more forgives,” Kasich repeated. “There are other pardons that presidents have granted that I did not agree with. I remember when Gerald Ford, you know, cost himself re-election when he pardoned Richard Nixon. This is what presidents do!

“Should he forgive himself?” Acosta asked, referring to Trump.
“You know, I want to move on,” Kasich snapped. “I want to change the subject. Donald Trump was defeated. He was rejected, okay? They started the transition. They finally pushed him to do it, his friends pushed him to do it. doing things that we’re not gonna like, but, you know, I’m ready to move on. “
Kasich continued, “I don’t even think of Donald Trump now. I think of Joe Biden, who he’s going to fit in, what his policies will be, that’s where I think. And that’s not a disrespect for the legal beagles. here I’m just telling you where I am and, frankly, I think that’s where most Americans are going to be. “
