Kelly Stafford, wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Lions, came back to the hospital for overnight observation after struggling to reduce steroids after her brain tumor surgery the week last.

She posted on Instagram on Wednesday that she had tried to manage her headaches and other problems, but had finally decided to ask for help.

"I was so wrong, the pain was so great in front of me that I could not keep anything down," Stafford wrote. "Including medications I found myself very early in the emergency room this morning, with steroids and painkillers. In the beginning, I felt as if I had failed, as if I could not handle it.

"A lesson that I think I have to keep remembering."

Kelly Stafford was discharged from the hospital Sunday after undergoing a 12-hour procedure to remove the tumor last week. Matthew Stafford, according to ESPN-initiated Adam Schefter, returned to Lions on Monday for training sessions.

The team told him to take all the time he needed to take care of his wife's recovery. It is unclear how his plans changed after his wife returned to the hospital.
