The S & P 500 and Nasdaq stock composites broke record highs on Tuesday afternoon, after many US companies' results propelled Wall Street to new heights.

"The S & P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rallied Tuesday to record record highs while Wall Street welcomed the higher-than-expected quarterly profits of some of the largest publicly traded US companies," CNBC reports.

"The broad index closed up 0.9% to 2,933.68, exceeding its previous record of 2,930.75. The S & P 500 also finished the day just below its intra-day record of 2,940.91. Nasdaq closed up 1.3% to 8,120.82. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, meanwhile, gained 145.34 points to close at 26,656.39 and was 1.1% of an all-time high, "the report adds.

Solid economic data is coming as countless Democrats vie for President Trump in the coming months. promising to raise taxes, reduce the US energy sector and increase regulatory burdens.
