Ruben Loftus-Cheek backed England to make history of the World Cup as they prepare for their first knockout match in 12 years.
Gareth Southgate's men face Colombia at Spartak Stadium on Tuesday night. The stage 16 of a big tournament was against Ecuador at the World Cup 2006.
With the elimination of Germany and Spain, England is the only former winner of the World Cup in the lower half of the table. If they beat the South Americans, they will face a quarter-final against Sweden or Switzerland, with the winners fighting either against Croatia or against Russia in the last four.
England will want to regain its momentum after a lost team Their last group match in Belgium, but Loftus-Cheek told Standard Sport: "We are all excited about finishing this race without victory by knockout. The team looks forward to the challenge, looking forward to doing the story.
"If we see it differently and we think of the pressure, that the situation happens to us, we will not play freely tomorrow. If we think this is a great opportunity, we have a huge chance. "
" Footballers need to quickly overcome setbacks, games come fast and well, but we're used to it now, we've been disappointed for maybe two days after the match. Belgium, but you just have to cut and focus on the next challenge.
"It's an important match for us. We have put Belgium behind us and we are preparing for Colombia. "
Loftus-Cheek said that the team had watched the last 16 games of the weekend and that the 22-year-old admitted that France -3 wins over Argentina on Saturday, followed by Uruguay's 2-1 success against Portugal, set a standard for England.
