Forty-two African countries were represented at the Delegate Registration Meeting (DRM) in Asaba, Delta State with Kenya and Ethiopia signifying their intention to dominate the African Athletics Champions billed for August 1-5.
The African athletes are being expected, being a selection competition for the African team for the Athletics World Cup in Ostrava, Czech Republic
Speaking to reporters after the DRM, the Kenya Team Leader, Abraham Mutai reiterated that they are taking the Asaba 2018 championships very seriously as they are plotting to emerge as the overall champion in the five-day event.
"For your information, World Champion Julius Yego is coming to Asaba
" Kenya is taking this championship very seriously. In South Africa two years ago, "said Mutai.
Bilbil Mekoya , Said Ehtiopia will be coming with the largest contingent with the intention of topping the medals table.
Over 52 African countries are expected at the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships.
