The Swedish Academy, an independent cultural institution that has awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature since 1901, has recently been engulfed in a scandal, forcing them to make the decision not to award a Nobel Prize this year.
Academy, a less elite group also based in Sweden, offered an alternative Nobel Prize in order to ensure that writers still get the honors they deserve this year, and there are three African writers on their final list.

Two of the African writers in the running are Nigerian women – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie ( Americanah ) and Nnedi Okorafor ] ( Akata Witch ) – while the third is a renowned Kenyan author, Ngugi wa Thiong & # 39; o ( A Grain of Wheat )
The popularity of Chimamanda as an author and feminist continues to increase every day, while Nnedi's multiple collaborations with Marvel will give it a household name. Obama has even included Chimamanda and Ngugi's books on his summer 2018 playlist.
