Unai Emery explained that Jack Wilshere's departure from Arsenal was a tactical and technical decision – and had nothing to do with midfield injury problems

"It was a decision, a private conversation and I want to respect that," said Emery. "It was a tactical and technical decision." The conversation with Wilshere was a very good, very direct conversation together, I explained to him my opinion and how I wanted to create the team, and I could not say with certainty that he was going to be in the 11 players.
"Also he explained to me that the decision is not easy for him, but he wanted to choose the best option for him and each time it is with respect. I know this player here is important to the fans and grew up here in Arsenal. But I do not give him a starting post 11 and that's why he's chosen to leave here, and I respect that as well.
Emery may have allowed Wilshere to leave Arsenal, but he confirmed that he wanted his midfielder Aaron Ramsey to stay at the club. The Wales International is in the final year of its current contract and talks are underway.
Arsenal's newly-formed transfer team, which includes recruitment director Sven Mislintat, director of football relations Raul Sanllehi and general manager Ivan Gazidis,
Emery naturally remains in constant contact with the trio, however, and he told them how important Ramsey will be to his team.
"I'm very happy with him," said Emery. "For me, every day, every workout, he has the ambition that I want.It works with a quality, kind of capacity that I want.I want to work with him.In my opinion, I told Ivan, Raul and Sven that I think he's an important player for me. "
Linking Ramsey to a new contract is Arsenal's last major task in what's was a productive summer transfer.
The new transfer team conducted his business quickly and, unlike previous seasons under Arsene Wenger, the team seems complete with a few more weeks in the current window. Emery confirmed that he was very happy with the players at his disposal, but he would be content with Arsenal to bring in one more player if the right opportunity presented itself.
"Normally, we think of young players, the possibility of them staying with us or going to play on loan in another team," added Emery. "We have signed the players we needed and only if a player is a great opportunity for us, we will sign them.
"We are also thinking of the players who were with us last year and if we need to stay with us.At this moment, I think the team is complete.We will not sign another player that there is an opportunity to bring a player or two players.We will only sign a player next month if it is a great opportunity. "
One player Arsenal has been badociated with in recent weeks is midfielder Steven N Zonzi, with whom Emery worked in Seville. However, a contract for him is apparently gone out of the table for the moment.
"I know him but we did not do it," Emery said.
