The former US President, Barack Obama, recommended Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart" and Chimamanda Adichie's "Americanah" among six books for the summer 2018 reading list.
Obama took on Twitter his account to announce the six African Author Books before his first visit to Africa since he left office on January 20, 2017.
This visit would take him to Kenya and South Africa.
Obama wrote: "Falling Things by Chinua Achebe is a true clbadic of world literature."
"This novel draws a portrait of the traditional society struggling with the arrival of foreign influence, from Christian missionaries to British colonialism, has inspired generations of writers in Nigeria, through the Africa and all over the world
"Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: From one of the world's great contemporary writers comes the story of two Nigerians their way to the United States and the Kingdom United, raising universal issues of race and belonging, overseas experience of the African diaspora and the search for identity and a home.

The first black American president born to a Kenyan father described the Africa as "a continent of wonderful diversity, flourishing culture and remarkable stories"
He also announced the launch of a civic leadership program by the Obama Foundation after the selection of 200 emerging leaders from 44 African countries, held July 14 in Johannesburg, South Africa
"This week, I'm traveling to Africa for the first time since I've been left my post – a continent of wonderful diversity, flourishing culture and remarkable stories.
"I was proud to visit Sub-Saharan Africa more often than any other sitting president, and I will be returning this week to visit Kenya and South Africa.
"In South Africa, the Obama Foundation will convene 200 extraordinary young leaders from across the continent and give a speech on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nelson Mandela." Kenya, of course, is the ancestral home of Obama.
