Parents in Nairobi County reported severe reactions in their infants who received the new polio vaccine administered by health workers in 12 counties.
Diarrhea and vomiting have been reported in children.
A parent who spoke to Citizen TV Fay Ngina reported that her child had alarming symptoms shortly after the vaccine was issued

Director of Medical Services Dr. Jackson Kioko however, badured the parents that despite the side effects being confirmed, they are only the result of the vaccine.
Dr. Kioko explained that the Ministry of Health had chosen to use a "bivalent" form (in pairs) of the vaccine and not the usual "trivalent". (1965: 1965) "Any new vaccine used will always have harmful effects and will carry a certain level of risk," he noted.

The doctor also alerted parents that the worry would only be if unexpected symptoms persisted for more than 10 days. He advised the parents to seek immediate medical badistance.
