The 23rd Asian Track and Field Championships will be held in Doha, capital of Qatar, from April 19 to April 24, 2019.
The biennial continental event that is usually held in July-August has been pre-empted by the Asian Association of Athletics. (AAA) because of the intensely hot and humid summers in Doha.
The six-day competition will be held at Khalifa International Stadium, which will also host the IAAF World Championships from September 28 to October 06, 2019.
Less than two years from the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the planning committee of the Indian Federation of Athletics (AFI) advised all coaches and athletes to focus on both competitions.

After the Asian Games in Jakarta (August 18 to September 2, 2018), Indian athletes will participate in the IAAF Continental Cup (Sep 8 and 9, 2018) in Ostrava, Czech Republic
The athletes will then take part in various national competitions including the National Open (25th to 28th September 2018) in Bhubaneshwar, the first edition of the 400m national championships (8th to 9th September 2018) in Dharamshala and the Nation al Javelin Challenge (September 9-10, 2018) in Lucknow
