Accra, July 25, GNA – Mr. Mircea Simonescu
Simicel, Secretary General of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF)
says, sport can be on the list of disciplines for the next Paralympic Games
Games.

He said Armwrestling was developing rapidly in

the leadership of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), to discuss the future of
the sport, as well as to inform about the preparations for the ninth Africa
The Armwrestling Championship will be hosted by Ghana.

He was accompanied by the President of Ghana
Armwrestling Federation, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, Mr. Julien Boumsong who is
Secretary General of the African Federation and other officials of Mali, the
first country to arrive for the African championship in Accra.

Mr. Nunoo Mensah congratulated the officials of
GAF for their hard work towards the successful hosting of the competition.

According to COG President Armwrestling
is the fastest growing sport in Ghana because of the publicity it enjoys
the media and the hard work of the organizers and the president.

He pointed out that they were establishing a point of reference.
by organizing competitions and congratulated them for putting Ghana on the map.

He added that the Government of China
disciplines, with $ 500,000 spent on the development of sport in the areas of
coaches and officials.

Julien Boumsong, Secretary General
Africa congratulated Ghana for preparing splendid preparations and has shown optimism

The 9th edition of Africa Armwrestling
The championship must take place at DG Hathramani Gymnasium
Accra Sports Stadium from Thursday, July 26, 2018 to Sunday, July 29, 2018.

About 13 African countries and more than 100
the athletes have so far confirmed their participation in the event.

Ghana won the bid after winning the majority of
the votes cast against Morocco at the Armwrestling of Africa Federation (AFA)
Congress, held in Lagos, Nigeria, last year.
