Keontay Ingram lands with USC, Lions get calls

On another day, another edition of the Daily Draft Digest as Reese’s Senior Bowl is well underway, kicking off the 2021 NFL Draft pre-draft process. In today’s edition, we take a look at a former Texas running back who is heading to Southern California to end his career, their former quarterback who draws the watch out in Mobile, and the Detroit Lions looking to potentially add another first-round pick to their arsenal.

Lions have suitors for Matthew Stafford

After announcing earlier in the week that the Lions and longtime quarterback Matthew Stafford were to go their separate ways, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the team will not run out of offers work with:

“The teams are already contacting the Detroit Lions to begin trade negotiations and determine what it would take to acquire QB Matthew Stafford, the sources say.”

With that kind of interest, and Stafford only 32, it won’t be a shock to see the Lions present an additional first-round pick in their name by the time the draw is over. Look for the Lions vying for Trey Lance and Zach Wilson in April.

In fact, Stafford’s house is already on the market as he looks set to say goodbye to the state of Michigan.

Keontay Ingram in Southern California

One of the biggest names to hit the transfer portal this offseason was former Texas Longhorns running back Keontay Ingram. Just yesterday, Ingram finally signed up to the University of Southern California, making him a dynamic senior year as he is paired with Kedon Slovis.

In just six games in 2020, Ingram ran for 250 yards and a touchdown, seeing just 53 carries with the Longhorns. He caught 11 more passes out of backfield for 103 yards and another score as well.

Sam Ehlinger looks better at Senior Bowl

It’s not a deep quarterback class at the Senior Bowl this year, especially after it was announced that Florida quarterback and Heisman finalist Kyle Trask will miss the event. While Alabama shooter Mac Jones is still around, it’s a different quarterback that catches the attention of the Mobile scouts.

Former Ingram teammate quarterback Sam Ehlinger apparently turned heads with his improvements on the field at the Senior Bowl. According to Matt Miller, formerly of Bleacher Report, Ehlinger reworked his arm delivery, garnering positive feedback from scouts throughout his first practice.

As there are nearly 20 NFL teams in need of a quarterback, with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons and Lions ready to pick up the Big Four in the blink of an eye. Obviously, some CEOs can become desperate. It could lead to players like Ehlinger getting pushed around.
