Comedian Kevin Hart is said to be undergoing a long physical therapy routine after undergoing a backpacking operation after a car accident in southern California.

Although his wife, Eniko Parrish, said that he "was going to be okay," his physical rehabilitation will last for several weeks, TMZ said. He had a back surgery this weekend.

Reports indicated that Hart was not driving. Police officials said nothing indicated the presence of alcohol or drugs, according to ABC7.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed that Hart had been injured in the 12:45 accident, reported ABC7. It took place around Mulholland Highway and Cold Canyon Road.

"Two of the three occupants were stuck inside," CHP told LA Times. "The remaining occupant and the vehicle owner, Kevin Hart, have left the premises to visit his neighboring home in order to obtain medical care."

A spokesman for the California Highway Patrol told Yahoo that officials were investigating whether excessive speed was taken into account in the accident.

"It's something we're looking at with just about every collision, so it's not really unique to this collision," said CHP officer Weston Haver. "A lot of speed is a factor … but it's something that the investigator is studying."

Some celebrities wished him good luck on social media after the incident.
