ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Coach Freddie Kitchens has always claimed that he would support offensive midfielder Kareem Hunt with the Cleveland Browns.
Kitchens and General Manager John Dorsey have shown that it was not just a discussion on Sunday when they presented themselves for Hunt's baptism at the True Vine Baptist Church in Cleveland.
"I just know we wanted to know that he felt supported as a person," Kitchens said Monday morning before the Cleveland Browns Foundation golf tournament at the Westwood Country Club. "That's what I told him and John [Dorsey] told him when we spoke to him when he arrived for the first time. And this is not a sign from John Dorsey's lips.
Unlike Sundays in the fall, spring sundays were not about football for Dorsey and Kitchens.
"We went for Kareem Hunt as a person and not as a football player," said Kitchens. "I went to other baptisms, and I'm sure John [Dorsey] It is the same, the baptisms of other people that they do not play football. The thing we did yesterday was not football, but Kareem. "
Kitchens think that caring about the person first is paramount in all situations.

Regarding Hunt, the football player, the Browns took their chances in February by signing the 2017 NFL leader title after being cut by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was not arrested or faced charges for the incident.
The NFL suspended Hunt for the first eight games of the 2019 season for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
Hunt, 23, knows he must do what is good off the field before he can return to NFL field. Since the end of the season, Mr. Hunt has been counseling and contacted local high schools to share their choices. His baptism was only the latest in Hunt's events since he had become Brown.
