KEPCO increased its annual revenues by 559.7 billion won when the electricity rate was increased by 1%

The industrial electricity rates announced by the government to adjust at the end of the year have increased 10 times in the last 10 years.
According to KEPCO IR data of 15, the latest increase in industrial electrical charges was 6.4% higher in November 2013.
The industrial electricity tariffs were 4.2% in January 2007, 1.0% in January 2008, 8.1% in November 2008, 6.5% in June 2009, 5.8% % in August 2010 and 6.1% in August 2011 6.5% in August 2012, 6.0% in August 2012 and 4.4% in January 2013.
Electricity charges for residential use for the same period increased 2.0% in August 2010, 2.0% in August 2011, 2.7% in August 2012, 2.0% in January. 2013 and 2.7% in November 2013. In December 2016, the electricity bill was reduced by 11.6% due to the progressive system reform.
In 2011, we increased the rates of industrial electricity twice in just four months.
At that time, peak demand for electricity in summer peaked and a power outage occurred on September 15th.
The demand forecasts were also the cause of the failure, but it was pointed out that too low electricity rates would lead to an overabundance of electricity and the realization of tariffs. ;electricity.
In particular, while oil prices have risen as a result of rising international oil prices, there has been a "consumption distortion" in which energy demand is inexpensive when oil and gas are gas are expensive.
This is similar to the reason why the current government argues that it is necessary to increase the rates of industrial electricity at midnight.
The unit price of electricity from KEPCO is 109.2 won / kWh for industrial use, 128.5 won for general use and 111.1 won for housing.
Electricity costs should be calculated at the level ensuring the appropriate investment cost and the appropriate cost corresponding to the cost of KEPCO, and should be approved by the Minister of Industry and Trade.
Unlike general companies, KEPCO absorbs some of its deficits as a public company because of political considerations such as price stability.
KEPCO recorded an operating loss of 1.27 billion won in the first quarter of this year.
Lower utilization rates in nuclear power plants have increased reliance on coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG), while coal and LNG prices have increased.
As a result, the fuel cost of KEPCO and the cost of electricity purchased increased by 27.0%, or 192.2 billion won, from one year to the next.
According to the KEPCO audit report, if the electricity rate increases by 1%, pre-tax net profit before the first quarter of this year will increase by KRW 1449 billion and KRW 595.7 billion. from here the end of last year.
