Lotte, Shilla, Shinsegae and Doosan participated in the call for tenders for the DF2 area (alcohol, tobacco) in Gimpo Airport operated by City Plus.
Korea Aerospace Industries will report the proposal (80%) and operating rate (20%) to the Korean Customs Service. Several operators should arrive on the 27th as soon as possible, and KCS will choose the final operator through a patent examination board.
The DF2 area was the place where City Plus, a mid-size duty free shop, came back in late April after delinquent rents.
The duty-free shop Lotte, which operates the DF1 area at the current duty-free shop of Gimpo Airport, plans to operate the entire duty free shop at the airport from Gimpo.
A manager of Lotte Duty Free Shop said, "In the past, the duty-free shop at Gimpo Airport was run by a commercial operator."
Incheon International Airport Auction The Shilla Duty Free Shop, which was climbed as a finalist candidate for the company, showed a voluntary appearance.
The Shilla Duty Free Shop usually is the only operator in the world operating a duty-free shop at the three major international airports in Asia, including Incheon – Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok – Airport from Singapore Changi.
The Shinsegae Duty Free Shop, which won the first pbadenger terminal exemption (T1) for the Incheon International Airport last month, also participated in the bid.
Duta Free Duty, a latecomer, also participated in the offer. But Duta Duty Free has not yet opened a duty free shop at the airport.
