Hundreds of people have disappeared after the construction of # 39, an auxiliary dam of the Sephian-Seinamno hydroelectric dam, under construction in Atapu, southeast of Laos. Reported. When the dam collapsed, 5 billion cubic meters of water were dumped in six villages. Hundreds of residents have disappeared and 6600 people have been displaced. Many deaths have occurred but the exact number of deaths has not yet been determined.
The dam was built by a multinational company, SEPAN-SEANNO NOI Power Company (PNPC), with Korean companies such as SK E & C and Korea West Power. In March 2012, SK E & C and Korean company West Power received joint orders and were scheduled to begin commercial operations this year. Ratchaburi Power in Thailand and Lao State Holding Company (LHSE) in Laos also participated in the investment.
