If so, why were many Alba workers silent when they knew this reality? They knew better than anyone that the boss was tough. Homeowners of convenience stores are threatening to close their doors if they increase the wages of Alba workers who have worked in silence even though they know illegally. The owners of convenience stores had to be more honest. Why they are so hard.

According to the main indicators of the convenience store industry of the Korea Convenience Store, total sales of 32,611 convenience stores nationwide amounted to 20,324.1 trillion won in 2016 , an increase of about 3 trillion won compared to the previous year. Let's take a look at GS25 as an example. According to this site, there are four types of contracts. Convenience stores usually take 35% of the gross profit of the head office, called G type in GS25. Even if it's a bit complicated, let's calculate it once. For example, if a store has a total gross profit of 10 million won, then 35%, or 3.5 million won, should be sent to headquarters first. That leaves 6.5 million won. Assuming that two Alba employees work five days a week on weekends, the monthly labor cost is reduced to 3 million won, and one million won is lost due to maintenance expenses such as the electricity bill.

Then, 2.5 million won should be in the hands of the owner, but here is the owner. If the owner buys 2 million won for rent, the convenience store can only get 500,000 won.

However, changing the order of this complex arithmetic can also lead to dramatic changes. In the profit of 10 million won, work, rent and management fees are deducted first. That leaves 4 million won. From the shop owner's point of view, this 4 million won is the real net profit. We do not complain about giving 35% of the profits because we worked with our head office here.

Only 1.4 million won will be sent to the head office, and convenience store owners will earn 2.6 million won. Is this an absurd story? It was absurd that the convenience store's head office did not badume any liability for staff expenses or franchisee rents and took the 35% unconditionally.

In 2016, the number of convenience stores in the national franchises is 32,611. As we have seen above, it is important for us to open a store once the head office is unconditionally favorable. Of course, there is a limit of 250m. However, this restriction only applies to stores of the same brand. It can not prevent other brands from entering. Let's look at other forms of contract. The contract that GS25 headquarters introduced as a type of security (type A) is a form in which the head office borrows rents and facilities / interiors and takes 55% of the gross profit as compensation. In the context of these unfair contracts, the status of the incumbents is closer to the manager who manages the workers of Alba. There are, of course, business stores that operate several convenience stores. But now, it matters, what should interest us, it is the management. In fact, while working for a long time, it is the people who should risk the failure of the company rather than protect the law on labor standards because of the status of the president.
