The higher the concentration of vitamin D in the blood, the lower the cholesterol and triglyceride levels and the lower the fasting blood sugar level. The average blood vitamin D concentration of the students was 11.1 ng / l, which was clearly insufficient. The researchers divided the students into four categories based on their vitamin D level. The lowest grade 1 average was 7.0 ng / ml. The highest average for 4 grades was 16.5 ng / ml, still in the deficient state. Grade 4 students are more likely to have a total cholesterol level of 200 mg / dl or higher, a serum LDL (bad cholesterol) level above 100 mg / dl, or a blood triglyceride level greater than 150 mg / dl. 0.82 times and 0.47 times, respectively.
This means that even if the level of vitamin D in the blood is "deficient", the higher the concentration, the better is the health index of the blood vessels, such as blood glucose, blood cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and blood triglycerides.
Vitamin D deficiency not only increases the risk of osteoporosis and fracture, but has recently been badociated with the risk of cancers such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, cancer colon and prostate cancer.
In a previous study, researchers found that the lower the serum vitamin D level, the higher the incidence of cardiovascular events such as angina and myocardial infarction. "In a 10-year follow-up study in adults without cardiovascular disease, the risk of myocardial infarction was twice as high."
