Kris Humphries recounts her marriage to Kim Kardashian.

In an essay for The Players' Tribune, the basketball player opened up on the 72-day union, denying that it was a publicity stunt.

"Listen, I should have known what I was getting in. I was really naive about how much my life was going to change, but the thing that really bothers me is when people say that my marriage is wrong, "he said. "There are certainly a lot of things in this world that are not entirely real, but our real relationship was 100% real."

He also talked about the difficulties caused by divorce.

"When it was clear that it was not working … what can I say? It sucks," he said. "It's never easy to go through the embarrassment of something like this – with your friends, with your family … But when it happens so publicly, in front of the world, it's a whole new level – it was brutal. "

He said the negative attention had left him in a "dark place".

"I'm going to be honest, I'm very worried, especially in the crowds, about a year ago, I was in a dark place, I did not want to leave my house," he said. he declared. "You feel like … I do not know … the whole world hates you, but they do not even know why, they do not even know you at all, they recognize your face and they are on you."

Humphries is married with Kardashian in 2011 in a televised event. Their divorce was only finalized in 2013.

Kardashian is now married to rapper Kanye West. They share three children together: Saint, Chicago and North.
