The Troup County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday arrested a man from LaGrange on charges of child abuse related to inappropriate behavior towards an 11-year-old girl.
The man, Benjamin Ray Gravitt, 24, has been charged with pedophilia and stalking, according to the sheriff’s office arrest report.
The victim’s mother told investigators Gravitt acted inappropriately in two separate incidents around July.
The incident report was filed on August 10.
According to the Sheriff’s Office incident report, during one incident Gravitt exposed himself to the victim while in Gravitt’s living room. During the same incident, he allegedly asked the victim to sit on his lap.
In another incident, Gravitt is accused of spanking the victim.
The victim’s mother said there had been other incidents of a similar nature that occurred in Alabama where Gravitt’s uncle lives.
The agent advised him to file a report with the appropriate authorities there.
