Lane County announces vaccination requirement for employees

LANE COUNTY, Oregon – The Lane County government announced Thursday that its employees and volunteers will need to be fully immunized by November 30, unless they are granted a qualifying exemption.

Those who are not vaccinated by the deadline and do not have an approved medical or religious exemption will be subject to an interim layoff.

“As our community’s public health authority, one of the region’s largest public service employers, and the organization leading efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our county over the past 18 In recent months, we feel a deep sense of responsibility to follow our discourse regarding science-based methods to protect people from COVID-19, ”Lane County Administrator Steve Mokrohisky said.

The county will schedule additional vaccination clinics for employees to meet the deadline.

Law enforcement officers are not subject to the policy because of state law.

There are approximately 1,700 Lane County government employees.
