Los Angeles Police Department (KABC) – According to the LAPD, the Los Angeles Police Department on Saturday shot dead a man with a knife on suspicion of stabbing a 19-year-old woman.

According to the LAPD, the shooting took place near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue around 11:00 a.m.

Police said a 19-year-old woman who was stabbed approached a police officer and turned to the suspect.

Police approach the suspect, who says he is armed with a knife.

“Police ordered the suspect to drop the knife, but he ignored it,” police tweeted. “The suspect walked up to the policeman, several beanbag cartridges were deployed and the policeman was involved in the shooting.”

Police said the suspect was beaten and taken to hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The LAPD said the suspect’s knife was recovered at the scene.

The victims of abdominal punctures were taken to hospital in stable condition.

The agency also tweeted that the Highland-Hollywood intersection was temporarily closed for investigation and traffic had been diverted to Sunset Boulevard to the south and Franklin Avenue to the north.
