Devonta Freemanwas called to the boss’s office. He is promoted.

The Baltimore Ravens are raising the veteran to the 53-player list, reported NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, according to Freeman’s agent Drew Rosenhaus.

After losing not one, not two, but all three of its top running backs to season-ending injuries even before the regular season began, Baltimore took a shopping spree at a dollar store. With a closet to fill and veterans to have, the Ravens signed Freeman,Le’Veon BellandLatave murray.

The last of the three scored a touchdown Monday night, while the other two spent the evening in formal attire. Now Freeman becomes the second veteran to successfully carry the ball for Baltimore.

In his heyday, Freeman was an elite running back for the Atlanta Falcons, gaining more than 1,500 scrum yards in 2015 and 2016 before missing most of 2018 with injury. He has never regained the form that once placed him among the league’s highest-paid running backs, playing a minimal role with the Giants last season before spending the 2021 preseason with the Saints.
