INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Center for Leadership Development launched its expansion on Wednesday.
Plans call for an expansion of 20,000 square feet.
The Center for Leadership Development has been around for 40 years and helps people develop personally, excel academically, and build a value system for success.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett joined community leaders for the inauguration.

INDIANAPOLIS – Today, the Center for Leadership Development (CLD) celebrated the expansion of the current CLD facility with a groundbreaking event featuring the Head of Equity, Inclusion and Opportunities from the Indiana, Karrah Herring, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and City and County Council Chairman Vop Osili.
“The groundbreaking event marked the addition of 20,000 square feet to the current CLD headquarters. Thanks to this expansion, the CLD will be able to accommodate more students and programs within the walls of its establishment. The expansion, funded by the RISE campaign, will allow the CLD to serve more young people than ever.
“The Center for Leadership Development is very grateful to the many thoughtful and generous stakeholders whose significant investment in Indianapolis youth made this revolutionary step possible,” said CLD President Dennis Bland. “With the trust and support of many, CLD will continue to expand our critical mission and our exceptional programs and services to cultivate the highest levels of growth and success in character, education, leadership, service and careers. We look forward to increasing the potential and success of youth in central Indiana and beyond for years to come. ‘

“The CLD recently announced the public phase of its RISE campaign. Through the RISE campaign, CLD seeks to serve more young people than ever by establishing satellite sites and school programs in high crime and low income areas, adding 20,000 square feet to its current headquarters and creating a endowment for future sustainability. To date, the CLD has raised $ 22.7 million, or 68% of its campaign goal of $ 33 million.
“In 2019, the CLD announced an $ 11.6 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to support the RISE campaign. The Lilly Endowment Inc. donation includes a matching commitment of 2 for 1, up to $ 2 million, for the CLD endowment as well. The CLD is currently raising funds to achieve this goal and encourages the public to continue contributing to the endowment campaign, which has a goal of $ 1 million and ends September 30, 2021.
