Vaccinations: should they be compulsory?
Plumas County students are invited to weigh in on these and related questions in the 2021 Essay Contest sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Plumas County.
Students in grades 9 to 12 can compete for the grand prize of $ 250 and up to three Honorable Mention prizes valued at $ 75 each. In selecting winners, judges will take into account the originality and development of the theme as well as the clarity, writing style and appearance of the manuscript.
The contest flyer has been distributed to all public and private high schools in the county and is also available from members of the League. The deadline is November 12.
Named after a longtime member of the Plumas League, the annual Nancy Lund Memorial Essay Competition is designed to engage students by stimulating their interest in civic matters. This year’s topic was developed by local teachers and members of the League.
Nominations can be submitted by mailing them to the League of Women Voters, PO Box 1815, Quincy, Ca 95971. They must be postmarked by November 12th.
Electronic registrations can be submitted to [email protected]. Only attachments in Word format will be accepted; Word Perfect, Works and other formats will not be accepted. Essays should be attached and not embedded in an email. The deadline for electronic registrations is 5:00 p.m. on November 12.
