Riot revealed Viego, The Ruined King in a fantastic cinematic trailer during its 2021 League of Legends celebration video, but that didn’t give us a lot of details on what it would actually do in the game. Fortunately, the full kit was released on the League of Legends website minutes after the broadcast, we now know exactly what Viego is capable of.
Viego is a jungler who can rush towards enemies to knock them out, then possess them once they’re defeated. If he has an enemy champion, he uses all of that champion’s basic abilities as well as his own ultimate. While this makes Viego unique, it should also make it one of the Leaguethe toughest champions, because you’ll need to know how to put all the other champions in the game to good use to get the most out of it.
Viego is likely to hit the League of Legends The public beta environment in the coming weeks, should then make it to the live game before the end of the month. Before we get there, here’s an overview of all of Viego’s capabilities:
Passive – Sovereign domination
Viego can temporarily own enemy champions that it helps kill healing for a portion of their maximum health. While in possession, Viego’s non-ultimate items, attacks, and abilities become those of his slain enemy, and he gets a free distribution of his own ultimate, Heartbreaker.
While owning an enemy, Viego also gains additional movement speed when moving towards enemy champions.
Q – Ruined King’s Blade
Passive: Viego’s attacks deal one percent of its target’s current health as additional damage on impact. When Viego attacks an enemy, he recently hit with an ability that attack hits twice.
The second strike siphons health from the target instead of dealing regular damage, but still applies to hit effects and can critically strike.
This passive is maintained during possessions.
Active: Viego stabs forward with his blade damaging all enemies hit.
W – Spectral Maw
Viego charges and rushes forward, projecting an explosion of mist that stuns and damages the first enemy hit.
Stun duration and Mist range increase with charge time, damage and dash range do not.
E – Torn path
Viego spreads a wave of Black Mist around a nearby wall. In the mist, Viego becomes camouflaged and gains attack speed and movement speed.
R – Heartbreaker
Viego discards any bodies it currently owns and teleports forward, attacking the enemy champion within range with the lowest percentage of health and dealing bonus damage based on their missing health.
Other enemies within range are knocked out.
