Legends Night propels WWE Raw to top viewers since March

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair’s publicity led to Raw’s Monday’s Legends Night edition, drawing the show’s best audience since March with 2.13 million viewers. It was the first time that Raw had more than two million viewers since August 24, before the start of the NFL season.

Part of that was also the lack of competition in the NFL, but historically Hogan and Flair always shoot big, especially in key demos and not with older fans, as Raw did 0.68 in 18-49, in 31% increase from last week as total viewership increased by 20%, meaning the average age of viewers has dropped significantly from normal.

Viewers also stayed for the three hours, which is unusual for Raw, and males between the ages of 18 and 49 peaked sharply at the third hour, so it’s hard to say if this meant seeing more legendary cameos or the main event Drew McIntyre vs Keith Lee.

But from the first hour to the third hour, women aged 18 to 49 fell 20%, more than usual, but men rose 8%, which is almost unknown. Teenage girls fell by 18% and adolescent boys by 22%. Historically, Hogan and Flair have always attracted teens better than anyone, both from the comebacks of recent years, as well as back in the days of the Monday Night War, when they were in their 40s. It goes against conventional logic, but history always shows it is. They have much less effect on the conduct of older audiences.

Raw was first on cable in 18-49 by a wide margin, with Under Deck second at 0.53. Raw was first among males 18-49 and second among females 18-49. It was the first in 18-34. He was tied for first among women aged 12 to 34 and was first by a large margin among men aged 12 to 34. In overall ratings, Raw finished 19th, behind 18 news shows.

Compared to the same week last year, Raw was still down, but not as much as usual. It was down 11% among viewers, 14% among 18-49 year olds and 20% among 18-34 year olds.

This number doesn’t show much, it wasn’t a surprise, and doesn’t indicate anything like last week’s AEW number and the last three weeks of SmackDown due to unique circumstances. To gauge where Raw is without football competition, it will be the show in two weeks which will give what the level should be for the next few months.

The three hours were:

  • 8 p.m. 2.20 million viewers
  • 9 p.m. 2.15 million viewers
  • 10 p.m. 2.04 million viewers
