Leo “Ski” Wozniak, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at his home in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph and Mary.

He joined the Marines as a young man and served in the Korean War. During his military career, he attended a journalism school. He worked at the Kansas City Times as a reporter, photographer, and retired as editor of The Telegraph on the last day of The Times’ publication in 1990.

Until he was 70, he ran and completed 12 marathons, including two in Boston. He was loved by his family, colleagues and friends.

Leo was predeceased by his brother, Robert; his wife, Pat; and his son, Michael Wozniak.

Survivor are his brother, Joseph (Claire); one sister, Barbara Wozniak; her children: John (Patty, Cheryl), Mary, Steven (Lisa), Paul (George) and Kate; as well as grandchildren: David (Sabrina), Angie (Terry), Kristina (Jason), Kara (Shane), Emily (Larry), Elizabeth, Jakob (Jenny) and Molly (Bryan); great-grandchildren: Taylor, Katelyn, Austin, Ashleigh, Reagan, Jillian, Emma, ​​Leo and Maximus; nieces: Ann Marie, Karen and Cathy; and a nephew, Ken Leighton.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Queen of the Holy Rosary in Overland Park, Kansas.
