Charity, lack of consideration

I was very happy to see Dr. Benson Hsu of Divide County, North Dakota amplify my “Defectors vs. Cooperators” letter to the editor printed on September 10.

One of the best things about life in the Midwest was watching the locals react to adversity. Observing blatant acts of charity and consideration go a long way in restoring faith in the decency of our fellow human beings.

It’s a shame that such behavior is so lacking in the swarming crowd of anti-maskers and anti-vaccines that have plagued the Bear Creek Valley and other places. Science, is it so hard to understand? What causes some to blatantly neglect the well-being of others? When so little can do so much, how can these people live with themselves?

Recently, for personal reasons, I had to be in Nebraska “out of state” for several weeks. The most amazing part of the trip was meeting new ‘old friends for life’. Too bad this level of comfort does not exist here.

We will never recover until we deal honestly with our economy as well as COVID. We need to tackle the “tax fund spending” lie.

Hot taxes and fees

Hot taxes and fees. Taxes and cold charges. Taxes and fees in the pot. This shit is getting old.

As for the $ 725,000 over five years that Lithia Driveway will spend on naming and publicity rights for the stadium (s), 250,000 of the money will not be money but support ” in nature “. For Lithia, it’s surprisingly inexpensive to rent highway signs (see ODOT billboards).

Also read the cherished contract on the city’s webpage under the agenda items for the council meeting on October 7. Previously, Medford management approved a $ 750,000 grant to Lithia Corp. (from urban renewal funds) to build a parking lot for cars. So taxpayers’ money will make the Medford-Opoly-Go-Round go round. Although Lithia may have a dandy tax deduction in the process.

Question: Why do residents continue to pay for the exclusive cadre of ball field goalkeepers as part of the monthly utility fee? City leaders and other entities involved can now stand up, form a circle, turn to the left, and slap each other on the back while simultaneously putting their hands in the pockets of taxpayers.
