LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Public Library announced Tuesday that it will host a grand opening of the new and expanded Central Library Children’s Zone on Wednesday, August 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The new space, located at 4e floor of the central library, has two children’s play areas, an enlarged space for programs, an artistic space and a large collection of books, magazines and films for children.

The grand opening will feature take-out crafts and library gifts during regular Central Library hours.

“Children learn best when they have the opportunity to learn, speak, play, sing and write, the key elements of early childhood education,” said Executive Director Heather Dieffenbach. “We have enlarged our children’s space to give them more ways to learn and explore the world around them.
