Lincoln still has one death from COVID-19

LINCOLN, Neb. (City of Lincoln press release) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced on Wednesday that another person has died from COVID-19. Death was a man in his fifties who was at home. The total number of deaths in Lancaster County is now 210.

LLCHD is today reporting 66 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lancaster County, bringing the community total to 27,322.

Recoveries: 11 349

Weekly positivity rate:

  • January 31 to February 6: 20.4%
  • February 7 to 10: 20.2 percent

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 40 with 27 from Lancaster County (three on fans) and 13 from other communities (one on a fan).

Doses of vaccine administered: 50 259

An online COVID-19 vaccine registration form for residents of Lancaster County is available at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Those who do not have online access or need help can call LLCHD’s COVID-19 hotline at 402-441-8006 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays to register.

The vaccine is not yet available to the general public. As vaccine doses become available, registrants will have an appointment to be vaccinated. Vaccination appointments depend on vaccine supply and are not tied to the order in which people register. Registration is open to all residents of the county, but those who are in Phase1B – those aged 65 and over and those with underlying medical conditions – are encouraged to register.

The COVID-19 risk dial is set to high yellow, indicating a moderate risk of the virus spreading. Recommendations include:

  • Careful expansion of interactions with others – preferred outdoor activities
  • Continue to wear a mask and move away when you are around other people outside your home.
  • Participate in businesses, gatherings and events only with modifications (i.e. physical distance, face masks and capacity limits)
  • Follow CDC travel guidelines

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, repeated tremors accompanied by chills, repeated muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. Those who have any of these symptoms or who have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 are advised to get tested immediately. The testing process begins with a free online risk assessment available at BryanHealth.com, CHIHealth.com, or TestNebraska.com.

The drive-thru tests are available at:

  • CHI Health St. Elizabeth: Autumn Ridge Family Medicine, 5000 North 26th St. and Southwest Family Health, 1240 Aries Drive. Call one of two sites to make an appointment: Autumn Ridge, 402-435-5300 and South West Family, 402-420-1300.
  • Nebraska Test: Gateway Mall, 6100 “W” Street, North Parking Lot of the Old Sears Store. The tests are carried out from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday. For more information call 402-207-9377
