CHENANGO (WBNG) – Buyers will soon be saying goodbye to another chain of stores in the South End.
The Kansas-based company announced last week that Payless Shoesource stores are closing all remaining stores in the United States and Puerto Rico.
"I have a lot of shoes and I always buy shoes," said Patty Lovuolo, of Chenango Forks. "So, yes, I will miss them. They have a great variety, the people are friendly and the convenience and sales. "
A spokesman for the company sent part of this statement to 12 news:
"We expect that all stores will remain open until at least the end of March and the majority will remain open until May. This process does not affect the company's franchising business or its Latin American stores, which remain open to normal operations. "
"I think there is so much competition between online stores and stores like DSW," said Emily Wood, a resident of Binghamton. "I guess I was not totally surprised by their closure."
Wood's girls say it's a place they will miss.
"They have deals there and it's not as expensive and you can buy a lot of shoes for cheap," said Miley Wood.
