Lisa Vanderpump understands why three original cast members were sacked Vanderpump Rules but hinted that the punishment might not be suitable for the crime.
The reality TV star and producer was a guest on Dear Media’s The confidential skinny him and her podcast where she reflected on last year’s scandal that saw Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute and Jax Taylor leave the popular show.
“I don’t like this culture of cancellation,” Vanderpump admitted in Monday’s episode. “I think sometimes people should be punished… and actions have consequences, but I think people can grow because of their mistakes. I really do. “
Bravo announced in June that Schroeder and Doubt will not be returning for Season 9 following the reappearance of a racist incident with former co-star Faith Stowers. Six months later, Taylor and his wife, Brittany Cartwright, revealed that they were also quitting the show.
Vanderpump told Dear Media podcast hosts Lauryn Evarts and Michael Bosstick that she understands why people are upset about what happened, but people can mature.
“I think reality TV is a good place to learn how to see the growth of – I mean, watch [Vanderpump Rules star] James Kennedy, ”she said. “[He] was a complete nightmare… but you see it progressing and I think seeing progress in young people is a wonder.
Schroeder was arguably the most popular and successful star to escape Vanderpump Rules. She apologized publicly and on several occasions. His dismissal came as a shock even to Stowers, but Vanderpump noted that “there was a lack of awareness with Stassi.”
“I think she was living in her own bubble,” said Schroeder’s former boss. “And again, Bravo did what they had to do at the time. I think it was all so much on fire at the time, but it was also an accumulation of things that she had done. It wasn’t just a remark.
Vanderpump noted other offenses, such as when Schroeder faced backlash for calling an outfit “Nazi chic.”

Schroeder and Doubt called the cops years ago after reading an article about a black woman who drugged and robbed people. They suggested the suspect might be Stowers. Schroeder then bragged about playing detective in a podcast interview in 2018, which resurfaced last year amid the Black Lives Matter movement.
Vanderpump said she “had never heard of this podcast” and was only made aware of the ordeal when it resurfaced last year. However, she is adamant that her staff are not racist.
“In their defense – what they did was not right at all – but do I think they are racist?” One thousand percent do not, “she said.” Because I have… a lot of diverse people who work for me that they have all been very close to over the years. So do I think that was racist action? I just think it was just awful, stupid, ignorant timing and, yeah, it is.
