Here’s a recap of all of the day’s top stories.
- More than two million people received the coronavirus booster vaccine in England until there. NHS England said on Saturday that three weeks after the start of the booster program, a total of 2.08 million refills were administered. Booster shots are given at least six months after a second dose.
- In AustraliaPrime Minister Scott Morrison backed plans to speed up the resumption of international travel as soon as the New South Wales home quarantine program is ready. In a live Facebook broadcast on Sunday, he said he had had discussions with the Premier of NSW Dominique Perrottet advance the start date for international travel for fully vaccinated people.
- The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ismail Sabri yaakob, said the government would allow fully vaccinated nationals to travel abroad without seeking permission from Oct. 11, as 90 percent of the adult population is now fully vaccinated.
- Italy reached the goal of fully vaccinating 80% of the population over 12 years of age against Covid-19, according to official data, reaching a goal that Rome had set as a safety threshold, government data showed on Sunday. According to a government website, 43,229,551 people over the age of 12, out of a total population of around 60 million, had completed their vaccination cycles as of October 10. The 80% target was set by the special commissioner for the Covid emergency, Army General Francesco Paolo. Figliuolo, in March and was affected late on October 9.
