Barcelona ‘turned down’ possibility of signing Salah

Barcelona turned down opportunity to sign Mohamed Salah ahead of move to Liverpool, Spanish media say ElNational.

The Egyptian signed for Liverpool from Rome four years ago and started his fifth season at the club.

He is already impressing once again having scored four goals in five Premier League appearances so far this season.

In La Liga, Barcelona have had a disappointing start to the season as they sit seventh in the table and drew 1-1 with Granada on Monday night.

Their departure comes following a turbulent summer which saw them lose star player Lionel Messi in a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been at the center of the Catalan giants’ financial difficulties with the company during his recently criticized tenure.

Notably, the suggestion that he turned down the option of signing Salah ahead of his transfer to Anfield.
