PSG “were considering signing” Mohamed Salah

Paris Saint-Germain “considered the possibility” of signing Mohamed Salah this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Ligue 1 club believed Salah would have been an ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappe, had the 22-year-old moved to Real Madrid before the deadline.

However, Romano said PSG had received no indication that Liverpool were looking to sell their star man.

“Paris Saint-Germain was considering this possibility [of signing Salah] earlier this summer, if they had the chance to sell Mbappe to Real Madrid, ”said Romano during his guest appearance on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

“They were ready to do something big and they wanted to try for Mo Salah. Liverpool had no intention of opening talks so it was just an idea.

“He’s still negotiating [a new contract] and from what I’ve been told, he loves Liverpool, he loves the fans and the city. He is really happy at Liverpool but the new contract is not yet concluded.

“I would keep an eye on a lot of clubs if players like Mbappe move this summer, but at this time Liverpool’s priority will be to extend Mo Salah’s contract.”
