Liverpool vs. Bayern: Roberto Firmino misses training because of a virus before the shock of the Champions League

Roberto Firmino missed training before the match between Liverpool FC and Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian striker was absent with a virus as the Reds were preparing for the first leg of their home and away match of the Champions League against the Bundesliga giants.

Virgil van Dijk is already suspended and will miss the match for Jurgen Klopp's team. Dejan Lovren will also be absent and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be uncertain.

This means that Joel Matip and Fabinho will certainly be the central defensive partnership for the match against Bayern, arguably the biggest Reds match of the season so far.

If Firmino can not recover from his virus on time, then Xherdan Shaqiri would be the favorite to enter the starting XI, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane sure to start so good.

Bayern have some selection problems of their own, with Thomas Muller suspended and neither Franck Ribery nor Jerome Boateng going to Merseyside with the team.

Ribery can still make the trip after the birth of his child, but the former international of France also has muscle problems while Boateng has gastrointestinal problems and is unlikely to travel to England.
