It is not every day that Republican lawmakers quarrel over social media and even less accuse themselves of sympathizing with terrorists. But that's exactly what happened Thursday afternoon, during a quarrel on Twitter about foreign policy between Rand Paul, a libertarian leaning, and Falcon Liz Cheney.
It all started when Paul, a senator from Kentucky, shared a Washington Examiner op-ed it criticized Cheney's position on Afghanistan. He called it a "neo-conservative" advocating "endless wars". Cheney, a Wyoming congressman and daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, strongly criticized Paul, prompting Paul's strategist, Doug Stafford, to get involved.
Actually, @realDonaldTrump The loves @RandPaul and I'm pretty sure that they both think your family is a chickenhawk band of warmongers who have personally benefited from the military-industrial complex and are responsible for the thousands of lives lost and billions of dollars lost. ??♂️ https://t.co/e0cwHzZ1i6

All this quarrel is regrettable. But Cheney's subsequent escalation is classless and out of bounds. Paul began with a valid, though antagonistic, critique of his foreign policy. She responded by challenging his motives and suggesting that he was a terrorist sympathizer.
Hello @RandPaul I know that the 2016 race was painful for you since you were a big loser (formerly) with a disappointing unemployment rate of 4.5% in Iowa. No surprise since your motto seems to be "Terrorists First, America Second".

Put aside the call, and the facts are clearly on Paul's side.
It's a made that the interventionist wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, backed by the two Cheneys, have cost thousands if not millions of lives and billions of dollars. To attack them in this way is a matter of fair debate.
Cheney's answer is not.
Paying Paul and his supporters as a pro-terrorist is unfounded and disgusting. Paul subscribes to an anti-interventionist foreign policy, America First, because he believes this is the best fit for the American people. If Cheney does not agree, she should discuss with him the merits of her ideas and not slander him as a pro-terrorist.
As chair of the House Republican Conference, Cheney is the third highest Republican in the House. Her position gives her greater power and the expectation that she behaves professionally and respectably. In this case, Cheney clearly failed. She should apologize and think about her behavior.
