LLCHD reports three more deaths from COVID-19

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced Monday that three other residents have died from COVID-19, bringing the total death toll in Lancaster County to 70 . 90-year-old women and a 70-year-old man All had been hospitalized. LLCHD reports 309 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lancaster County, bringing the community total to 14,835. The 98 new cases reported on Sunday were partial results. Monday’s total includes cases reported Sunday at midnight. The total number of new cases reported on Sunday and Monday is 407.

Recoveries: from 4,920 to 4,988

Weekly positivity rate:

November 15 to 21: 27.4%
November 22 to 23: 28 percent

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 176 including 78 from Lancaster County (six on fans) and 98 from other communities (14 on fans).

The COVID-19 risk dial is in the red position indicating a serious risk of the virus spreading. Residents are encouraged to follow these recommendations to protect themselves and others:

Stay home unless you are traveling for work, school, food, or health care, or to see if others may need help.
Work from home if possible.
Wear a face mask when interacting with someone outside of your home.
Stay at least six feet from anyone outside your home.
Avoid gatherings.
Visit only businesses and participate in activities where public health guidelines are followed. Guidelines include mask wear, physical distance, and capacity limits.
Follow the Centers for Disease Control travel guidelines at cdc.gov.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, repeated tremors accompanied by chills, repeated muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. If you have symptoms, get tested. Testing is now open to all residents of Lancaster County by appointment only.
