Lorraine Anna Plamann, 97, was called to her heavenly home on October 3, 2021, under the care of Compassus Hospice at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Lorraine was born on February 24, 1924 in the town of Schley, County Lincoln, daughter of late August and Metha (Lowenhagen) Loesel. On September 11, 1943, Lorraine married Edgar Plamann.

Lorraine was a farmer and a housewife. She enjoyed farming, driving farm machinery and cattle. Each cow had a name. Her passion was agriculture, and she was also a very good cook.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Dutch Corners Ladies Aid, Schley. Lorraine would pick up the children who lived too far from school for them not to have to walk. She was a member of a bowling team at the Gleason Bowling Center and was an early member of the L&L Snowmobile Club as well as the Tree Dodger Club. Lorraine and Edgar were the first winners of the January Thaw Contest hosted by local Merrill in 1988, where they won a weeklong trip to Orlando, Florida.

Her cat has been her companion for 8 years, “Miss Kitty” who has now found a wonderful new home.

Survivors include her children, Shirley (Roger) Yonke and Duane (Val) Plamann, both of Merrill; six grandchildren, David Yonke, Daniel Yonke, Andrew ‘Andy’ Plamann, Renee (Rob) Koebe, Kimberly (Brad) Nett and John Ollhoff; thirteen great-grandchildren, Leah, Larry, Lacy, Mathew, Jaycee, Hannah, Thomas, Cody, Alex, Jacob, Austin, Justin and Kaitlin; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Dayton, Kayson, Kelly, Brayton, Bryce, Jameson and Samuel; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Edgar, Lorraine was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Randell; son, Roger Plamann; brother, Willis Loesel; sister, Betty June Spears; brother-in-law, Robert Spears; granddaughter, Christy Langbecker; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Yonke Boehm.

Lorraine’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Reverend Mike Southcombe will officiate. Interment will be in the Trinity-Dutch Corners Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Schley, County of Lincoln. Visitations will begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
