Los Angeles County to Require Vaccination for Indoor Bars and Nightclubs Soon – Deadline

Planning to hit the bars in Los Angeles this weekend? Don’t forget to bring proof of your Covid vaccination.

The LA County Director of Public Health said today that proof of vax will soon be required for patrons of indoor bars and nightclubs. The new rules will also include proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within 72 hours for theme parks or outdoor events with 10,000 or more people, starting October 7. These rules currently only apply to Indoor Mega Events.

An updated and revised order from health workers is expected by Friday.

“This amended order for health workers aligns with the continued need to reduce the risk of transmission and increase immunization coverage,” Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer told the oversight board today. “This is a reasonable path forward that will position us to be better able to break the surge cycle.”

The order will require proof of vaccination for customers and employees in the interior parts of bars, wineries, breweries, nightclubs and lounges. All customers and workers will need at least one dose of vaccine by October 7 and a second by November 4. The plan will also recommend – but not require – vaccine checks for employees and customers in interior parts of restaurants.

Ferrer said some of the things people do in bars, like singing and dancing, tend to have a higher risk of transmitting Covid than a sit-down restaurant. She added that the order is more focused on “drinking places” without a restaurant license.

“There is a cyclical nature to this virus, and as long as we have a large number of unvaccinated people here in the county, we are at the mercy of the cyclical nature of the (virus),” Ferrer told supervisors. “We are vying in some ways to potentially have another surge later in October, November, December, when conditions really favor the replication of the Covid-19 virus if we are not really diligent now and take action that will reduce the risk of COVID-19 virus replication. ‘exposure.

The 17,500-seat Hollywood Bowl separately announced today that its audiences will face a vaccine or test warrant starting September 24.
