LATROBE, Pa. (KDKA) – Lucy Pollock was a woman with a mission: to bring joy to those trapped in their homes during the coronavirus pandemic.
Pollock’s family announced on Sunday that she died at 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
“Beautiful and charming Lucy, talented woman and incredible mother, passed away last night at 3 am,” said Mary Ellen Raneri, Pollock’s daughter. “It was very unexpected. This was due to chest infections, and she also tested positive for COVID. So this is an eye opener for us and for everyone and it’s so ironic that she struggled so hard to help people ended up hurting her.
Pollock, 98, of Unity Township, featured homemade recipes in Facebook Live videos posted on his page, Baking With Lucy.
The videos have consistently garnered thousands of views.
Pollock was even recently recognized by NBC’s Today show November 18.
Pollock and his daughter began posting the tutorials as lockdowns began in most parts of the country. The first video was posted on March 30, with Pollock showing people how to bake Easter bread.
In March, Raneri told KDKA that her mother not only made people watch the videos, but also made the recipes with her.

Raneri pointed out in a video posted to the page today that Pollock loved everyone who watched his videos and left comments. Raneri said in the video that Pollock even intended to cook on Sunday before he started to feel sick and went to the hospital over the weekend.
The family have asked those who wish to leave their respects through keepsakes to drop them off at Lopatich funeral home in Latrobe every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Floral Gate.
