The CDC warned that tick and mosquito-related diseases have tripled since 2004.
Data from Quest Diagnostics show that Florida had the largest increase of people tested positive for Lyme disease between 2016 and 2017.
Downey said, "I had not done any tick prevention before. As I said, it was not on my radar. We are not campers, we do not hunt, we do not spend a lot of time outside. "
She said her goal is to make sure every family knows the danger.
