Madden NFL 21 PS5 trophies emerge and EA Sports couldn’t even update the icon

You just have to laugh, don’t you? Madden NFL 21 completely missed the launch of the PlayStation 5 after the PlayStation 4 version had the worst user score from Metacritic, and despite its scheduled release on December 4, we haven’t seen it in action yet. Well, now the trophies have been rolled out to Sony’s servers, and EA Sports hasn’t even bothered to update the game icon’s aspect ratio.

For those of you who don’t know, PS5 trophy lists are now identified with a larger square symbol, whereas on the PS4 they were rectangular. But creating a square .PNG takes some effort, so the underfire editor left with the same icon used for the current gen game – and pasted some black borders around it. Sigh.

To be fair, the trophy icons themselves have been remade – likely at the behest of PlayStation. Yet, here’s what the American football simulation will look like in your list of games:

And this is what it is supposed to look like:

As for the trophy list itself, well, it’s identical to the existing version of the game, which means you should probably expect the same experience. Face of the Franchise is still the bulk of trophies, the only multiplayer gem that requires you to win the Super Bowl in an online league. Hopefully we will see more of this release soon, as EA Sports has definitely been in hiding lately.
