"It seemed like America had thrown up all over my marriage – and I'm not sorry," said Audra Johnson, a newlywed, at her local Fox 17 station. The casual bride married US Navy veteran Jeff Johnson at a Trump-themed ceremony in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 4th.
The Church met State at the #MAGAPatriot wedding, and Johnson presented André Soriano's "Make America Great Again" halter evening gown, whose stunning creations adorned the red carpet of singer Joy Villa.
The bride wore a traditional white when she walked down the aisle – but the couple's Americana palette became a lot more colorful from there.
Among the breathtaking details of the shameless patriotic wedding: 'Do not walk me' cufflinks for the groomsmen, a red, white and blue bridal manicure to match Johnson's 'Trump' embroidered dress, said bride) and – on each reception table – a petition in favor of the "bill of fetal heartbeat".
Husband Jeff – who served two rounds of combat in Iraq – kept his tone low wearing his blues in navy dress during the ceremony and reception, reports MLive.
The father of the groom, however, chose not to attend the ceremony for political reasons. The bride is also separated from her brother because of her right-wing views. Others, such as the Democrat, Johnson's long-time friend and friend of honor, made concessions for the pictures of the big day in order to avoid approving the 45th president.
"We did what most adults do and made compromises," says Johnson. "She was wearing a red hat and I told her, it's perfect."
Despite political tensions, Johnson said, "Many people supported us and came" for a piece of their white wedding cake decorated with strawberries and blueberries.
"It was not a political coup, that's what we wanted. It was not about making a political statement, "said the bride to MLive. "I want people to realize that that day gathered such a diverse group of people. We have understood that we do not all have to agree to share our love together. I think that's what people miss. "
